Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani: Dharmendra Is Excited To Share Screen Space With ‘Brilliant Actors’ Ranveer Singh And Alia Bhatt

Even at the age of 85, veteran actor Dharmendra is unstoppable and continues to win hearts with his acting prowess. The legendary actor will next be seen in Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and is quite excited about the new project. Dharmendra will be working with a new breed of actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the upcoming rom-com. And the Sholay actor is looking forward to witnessing some young energy on the sets.
Speaking with ETimes, Dharmendra opened up about working with Ranveer and Alia and showered heaps of praises on them. The stalwart was quoted as saying, “Ranveer looks so natural in all his films. Bada hi pyaara ladka hai. Whenever we bump into each other at a function, woh aake mere paas baith jaata hai. Likewise, Alia is also brilliant with her work.”
Talking about reuniting with Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, the Dharam Veer actor recalled the former as her co-star in Guddi. “During that film, she would always say, ‘Dharam ji main fan hoon aap ki. And I can say that she was a genuine fan,” he said.
The veteran star also said Shabana is a fine artiste. “I remember we were to work in a film called Bichhoo, but unfortunately the Sai Paranjpye-directorial couldn’t be completed. Ab iss film mein poori bhadaas nikaal lenge,” he added.
Dharmendra also expressed his excitement about collaborating with Karan Johar and asserted that he is thrilled to work with a director like KJo, who’s directed 'lovely' movies. He also mentioned that when he first heard the script he felt the director has written the role keeping him in mind.
“He (Karan Johar) also told me, ‘Dharam saab aap jaise ho real life mein, mujhe waise hi chahiye aap on screen’. So, I guess mujhe acting bilkul nahi karni padegi isme,” the actor laughed off.
On a related note, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani was announced on the occasion of Ranveer’s 36th birthday. The rom-com will mark Karan Johar’s return to direction after five years.
